What makes us different from other bands?
There are a few things that make us different from other bands. For one, we are all close friends and the creation of the band is more of a product of our friendship than anything else. Secondly, we do everything ourselves and take great pride in that fact. We write/record/mix/master and produce our own original music, outside of the constraints of a record label. We created this website and we update and maintain it so the information you get is first hand from the band members. We distribute our original music for free directly from this site. Since we write and record our own music, we own the creative rights to it, and therefore, we are able to allow you to download it for free. The days of going to the store and paying $14.00 for a CD are slowly becoming obsolete. We are a band inspired by many things, one of which is technology, and we are using technology to allow you free access to all Petty Thieves Original Works from one easy to get to location. . . this website.

The last thing that makes us different is our musical versatility. As we were starting out, we had to play a lot of smaller bars and restaurants where volume and space were huge constraints. We quickly developed a strong acoustic style, and that, combined with with our full band capabilities gives us the following instrumentation and skills:

Dillon Ruggiero - Acoustic, Electric, Bass, Harmonica's, Vocals, Harmonies
John Polo - Drums, Hand Percussion, Vocals, Harmonies
Shawna Ideran - Lead Vocals, Harmonies, Tambourine, Shaker
Elias Butler - Bass, Acoustic, Electric, Harmonies

What's the deal with the number, "9?"
If you're curious about the recurring number "9" theme throughout the site, here's the info on that. . . I (Dillon) was born on September 9th, which is the 9th day of the 9th month. 9 has always been a special number to me. In some cultures, they consider nine to represent completion as it's the last number before resetting to zero. Here's the really nerdy part, the number 9 has a perfect root of 3 which to me also represents balance and symmetry which I tried to illustrate in my graphic with the three crosshairs surrounding the number 9. Some people may think it's strange, but to me, it means a lot.
